Siesta Key Lifeguard Tower - Original Florida Gulf Coast Oil Painting, 6x8

The tenth and final piece in my “Ten Florida Moments” series, this small oil painting captures a lifeguard tower on Siesta Key Beach, one of the most celebrated stretches of sand on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Painted from a visit a few years back, this piece holds a different light and mood than the east coast scenes earlier in the series — that famous sugar-white Siesta Key sand, a turquoise Gulf, and towering summer clouds stacked up over a candy-red guard tower.

These towers dot the beach in a rotation of yellow, red, green, and blue, each one a small landmark for beachgoers finding their spot on the sand. I chose the red for this piece — it held its own against all that sky.
